Autism Agency v. Department of Health: In a dispute that has spanned 6 years of litigation and led to Mr. Sod filing 5 separate proceedings under what is known as Article 78, Mr. Sod obtained 2 injunctions against the NYC Department of Health and compelled the City to pay $350,000 of claims that were otherwise barred by the statute of limitations.
Sieger v. Sieger: In a case that received national and local news coverage, Mr. Sod reduced a matrimonial verdict against his client by more than $4 Million after 2 successful appeals and more than 10 motions.
Schwartzberg v. Kingsbridge Heights Care Center, Inc.: In a litigation that required 2 jury trials and 3 appeals, succeeded in defeating claims for excessive compensation arising from irregularities in the final accounting of the sale of a business, a nursing home.
General Electric Imaging Systems v. Boro Park Imaging: Prevented GE from wrongfully repossessing an MRI machine, and forced GE to compromise a $3 Million claim for $200,000.
Greenwich Insurance v. Telemark: In a case litigated in both Federal and State courts, Mr. Sod succeeded in compromising a $10 Million liability for a $50,000 settlement, saving his clients from personal bankruptcy, financial ruin and loss of their home.
M.T. v. G.D: In an ongoing rabbinic arbitration of 10+ years duration concerning ownership and control of a pharmaceutical supply company with $80+ million in annual sales, Mr. Sod succeeded through 4 arbitration awards and 3 separate court proceedings, to wrest control of a company from a minority shareholder who looted the company of millions of dollars.
North Lawrence Civic Association v. Nassau County Off-Track Betting Association: Representing a local civic association, Mr. Sod succeeded in obtaining a temporary restraining order against Nassau County’s Off-Track Betting Association, enjoining OTB from opening its unseemly betting parlor in a residential neighborhood.
Real Estate Litigation
Mr. Sod has engaged in numerous lawsuits concerning sale, use and occupancy of real estate, including commercial landlord tenant proceedings. Representative litigations include:
Allied Mortgage v. Blackburn: successfully sued to compel a real estate investor to complete short sale of real property and convey it to the purchaser pursuant to the terms of the contract.
Commercial Landlord v. Medical Practice: Representing a medical practice that was being evicted from the building that the Medical Practice partly owned, sued in Supreme Court and succeeded in obtaining a successful division of the real estate, and obtained favorable terms for Medical Practice’s move-out from the building.

Class Actions
Health Care Class Actions:
Mr. Sod has served as class counsel in national class action lawsuits brought against United Healthcare, Oxford, Aetna and Cigna involving health insurers that defrauded their insureds of hundreds of millions of dollars. Representative settlement: American Medical Association v. United Healthcare Corp., settled for $350 Million.
Consumer Fraud Class Actions:
Mr. Sod has successfully prosecuted class actions against companies that have defrauded consumers, among them:
Richman v. Carol Wright Gifts: Recovered upwards of $20 million, on behalf of an estimated 13 million class members, from a national catalog company that illegally padded its invoices with unearned shipping charges.
Trang v. HSBC: Obtained a refund on behalf of 25,000 New York State bank customers who were illegally charged $10 by their mortgage company.
Eisig v. Gateway Energy Corporation: Recently filed class action alleging that defendant, an Energy Services Company, or ESCO, gouged its subscribers by offering a variable rate contract which did not vary but only increased.
